The family of Scarlett Faulkner have heartbreakingly confirmed her death this Monday evening. The 29-year-old from Limerick city’s northside passed away after a brutal attack three weeks ago.
Brutal Assault Ends in Tragedy
Scarlett, a devoted mum-of-one, was allegedly struck with an iron bar on the R494 road in Birdhill, Co. Tipperary, on Saturday, March 21. She was rushed to Cork University Hospital but remained on life support for days. On Sunday, with family by her side, Scarlett was taken off life support. Her loved ones spent the final night holding vigil around her.
Family Pays Tribute: “What a Warrior”
Josephine (Joanne) Duffy, partner to Scarlett’s brother Thomas, shared a touching update on social media: “The one, the only, Scarlett Faulkner, passed away so peacefully with her loving family around her. What a warrior.” “Rest in peace my beautiful sister-in-law. Thank you all so much for your prayers and support.”
Martin Anthony Faulkner, one of Scarlett’s 15 siblings, wrote simply: “RIP my lovely sister Scarlett.” The Scarlettarmy Facebook page added: “Heaven has gained a beautiful new angel.” They continued, “It is with the deepest sorrow and profound regret that we share the heartbreaking news that Scarlett Faulkner has passed away. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.” The family has requested privacy as they cope with their tremendous loss and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support.
Police Confirm Ongoing Investigation
Gardaí confirmed Scarlett’s passing on Monday night and said the investigation is still active.
“Gardaí continue to investigate a serious assault which occurred on the R494 at Birdhill on Saturday, 21 March shortly before 5.30pm. The woman, aged in her 20s, was pronounced deceased earlier today at Cork University Hospital. The Coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem will take place,” a Garda spokesperson said. “Two people are currently charged before the courts. A Family Liaison Officer is supporting the family. Gardaí will make no further comment at this time.”
