The iconic London to Brighton Veteran Car Run roars back this Sunday, 6th November. Classic motors will hit the road in one of the UK’s most beloved vintage car events.
Route Details: From Hyde Park to Madeira Drive
The run kicks off at London’s Hyde Park and follows the historic A23 route down through Surrey and Sussex, finishing in style at Brighton’s Madeira Drive. Expect a scenic journey past Gatwick, Crawley, Pease Pottage, Handcross, Burgess Hill, Hassocks, and Pyecombe before the grand finale by the sea.
Watch Out! Road Closures and Traffic Controls
- Hammer Hill to Cuckfield (B2114): Northbound road closed from Rose Cottage Lane to Sloughgreen Lane. Only southbound traffic allowed.
- Cuckfield High Street (B2036): Northbound closed from Leyton Lea to Broad Street. Southbound remains open to veteran cars and other traffic.
- Stonepound Crossroads, Hassocks (A273): Temporary system lets marshals prioritize southbound veteran cars at traffic lights.
- Clayton Hill (A273): Northbound closure from Clayton Hill/New Road junction down near Pyecombe Golf Club. Southbound traffic only.
Emergency services, pedestrians, and local residents will have full access throughout.
Madeira Drive Closed to Regular Traffic
Only registered veteran cars can access Madeira Drive on race day. Spectators should plan accordingly and expect some delays on route.
