Train Hits Person at Woolwich – Services Slammed
Rail chaos hit South London this morning after a person was struck by a train at Woolwich station. The crash happened around 10am on Wednesday, 29 March 2023, forcing shutdowns between Woolwich Arsenal and King George V.
Emergency Response Sparks Power Cut
The incident occurred between Charlton and Slade Green on the Southeastern line. Power to the tracks was switched off as emergency services rushed to the scene, halting all rail traffic.
Southeastern Railway took to Twitter to confirm: “Sadly we’ve had a report of a person being hit by a train between Charlton and #SladeGreen. Power to the track has been switched off to allow emergency services to respond. Trains will be diverted or cancelled. More information to follow.”
Bus, Tube & DLR Tickets Accepted
To ease commuter misery, tickets on London Buses, Underground, and DLR are being accepted as alternatives while services remain disrupted.
British Transport Police Update
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Woolwich DLR station at 10.49am following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics attended, and a man is being taken to hospital for assessment. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
Passengers are advised to check ahead and expect delays on Southeastern services throughout the day.
