Multi-Car Crash Sparks Chaos at Graveyard of A2
A woman was rushed to hospital following a dramatic multi-vehicle pile-up on the A2 near Gravesend this morning. The smash, which saw a car overturn, snarled traffic at the junction with the A227 Wrotham Road around 8:30 AM.
Emergency services quickly descended on the scene, shutting all lanes temporarily while they dealt with the wreckage.
Emergency Crews Treat Two at Scene
South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) confirmed that two people were treated on-site. One woman was later taken to Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough. Fortunately, her injuries, along with the other victim’s, are not life-threatening.
“SECAmb was called at about 08:38 to a report of a road traffic collision at the junction of Watling Street and Wrotham Road in Gravesend,” said a spokesperson. “Crews treated two patients before taking one female to hospital for further care.”
Police Tackle Traffic Nightmare and Clear Up Scene
Kent Police were on hand early to manage chaos, assist with vehicle recovery, and keep traffic moving. They reported the crash involved two cars heading London-bound on the A2 near Wrotham Road.
“Patrols and highways officers helped recover the vehicles and clear the road after paramedics attended the injured,” a police rep confirmed.
By just before 11 AM, all lanes were reopened, restoring normal traffic flow after the morning gridlock.
Ongoing Investigation and Caution Urged
Authorities are probing the cause of the crash. Drivers using the A2 are warned to stay alert and drive carefully to avoid further incidents in the area.
