A young man was dramatically rescued after getting trapped on the cliffs at Ecclesbourne Glen, Hastings Country Park, just as the tide began to flood in.
Emergency Cliff Rescue Sparks Major Operation
On Tuesday afternoon, HM Coastguard teams from Bexhill, Hastings, and Rye Bay rushed to the scene following reports of a trapped climber between Hastings and Fairlight. Specialist rope rescue crews swung into action as the tide started to rise fast.
Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat volunteers launched their vessel within minutes of the Coastguard alert at 4.28pm. Once rescued, the man was brought safely ashore where teams checked his condition and provided food and drink.
Sensible Call for Help Avoids Disaster
“He made the sensible decision to call for help after realising he was unaware of the tide times,” rescuers confirmed.
The swift multi-agency response involving multiple Coastguard units and the Pett Level rescue boat ensured the young man’s safe recovery. All teams stood down once he was assessed, unharmed.
