Zoe Ball Quits Radio 2 Breakfast Show After Six Years

Zoe Ball has shocked fans by announcing she will leave BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show this December. After six years of early wake-ups and thousands of morning listeners, the 53-year-old DJ declared it’s time to ditch the dawn alarms and focus on her family instead.

“After six incredible years on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, it’s time for me to step away from the very early mornings and focus on family,” Zoe told her Tuesday audience.

Her final show will air on Friday, 20 December, just in time for Christmas. But Zoe isn’t disappearing completely — she’ll stay on Radio 2 in a new role, with full details expected in 2025.

Scott Mills to Take the Helm

BBC Radio 2 quickly revealed Scott Mills will replace Zoe as the new Breakfast Show host. Currently the station’s afternoon star, Mills is thrilled to take over the coveted morning slot.

“Zoe and I have been such good friends for over 25 years. We’ve shared radio studios at Radio 1 and Radio 2, and she’s done an incredible job these past six years. I’m beyond excited to be handed the baton,” Scott said.

Fans React: Warm Farewell and Excited Cheers

Social media lit up with tributes to Zoe’s warmth and energy, with fans sharing heartfelt thanks for her dedication to their mornings. Meanwhile, many are buzzing with excitement for Scott Mills’ new role, praising his humour and deep radio experience.

What’s Next for Zoe Ball?

Zoe broke new ground as the first female host to take over the Radio 2 Breakfast Show when she succeeded Chris Evans in January 2019. Her tenure brought record listener numbers and a genuine bond with audiences. While she steps down from early mornings, her next Radio 2 chapter remains a mystery—set to unfold in 2025.
