EastEnders Shocker: Vicki Fowler Returns After 20 Years!
Walford is about to be rocked! Vicki Fowler is back on EastEnders for the first time in over two decades. Played by Andor star Alice Haig, she returns to pay her respects at the funeral of her uncle, Martin Fowler, in a poignant twist.
Martin Fowler’s Tragic Fallout
It all comes on the heels of Martin Fowler’s heartbreaking exit. James Bye’s beloved character died live on air during the soap’s 40th anniversary special. After an explosion at the Queen Vic, Martin suffered crush syndrome. When a metal beam was removed from his body, he collapsed from cardiac arrest.
The gripping episode saw Martin and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) trapped in the rubble, confessing their love moments before tragedy struck, leaving viewers devastated.
Family Drama Explodes with Vicki’s Return
Alice Haig is buzzing to join the Walford clan:
“I am so excited… I’m the same age as EastEnders, and to play Vicki, who’s changed so much, is incredible. Can’t wait for the Albert Square drama ahead.”
But Vicki isn’t coming back alone. She’s brought her new boyfriend, Ross (Alex Walkinshaw), and his son Joel (Max Murray).
Ross is a devoted family man who’s madly in love with Vicki. Walkinshaw teases,
“He’s a hardworking guy, but it’s not all smooth sailing.”
Max Murray said of joining the soap,
“It’s an absolute privilege to introduce Joel and tell his story.”
Shockwaves Through the Fowler Clan
Vicki’s surprise return will shake up family ties. Sister Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) are stunned to learn about her split from former flame Spencer Moon, with whom she’s lived in Australia since 2004.
EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw said:
“Vicki’s back under tragic circumstances and has changed a lot. Ross and Joel bring a new branch to the Fowler family. Expect big waves in Walford.”
Vicki Fowler: A Walford Legend
Vicki’s story is soap legend. Born in 1986 amid a scandalous teenage pregnancy storyline, she’s the daughter of Michelle Fowler and ‘Dirty’ Den Watts. Her birth rocked Albert Square and shaped EastEnders history.
After leaving for the US in 1995, Vicki returned briefly in 2003, then moved to Australia with Spencer in 2004. Now, she’s back — and ready to unleash fresh drama.
What’s Next?
The Fowler family mourns Martin’s death, but with Vicki, Ross, and Joel in town, expect new secrets and rivalries. Will Sharon and Alfie accept the new dynamics? Can Ross and Joel handle the chaos of Walford life?
