Dog walking Pensioner knocked to ground by off road motorbike

Police were called following an incident involving a 68-year-old woman and a scrambler-style motorbike on Southampton Common shortly after 8pm on April 26. The woman was out walking her two dogs when she heard a motorbike approach from behind her. There was a collision and the woman was knocked to the ground and the lead to one of her dogs got caught in the vehicle. Fortunately the dog was able to get free from the lead without injury and the motorbike drove off with the lead dragging behind it. The woman suffered bruising and was helped to her feet by a passing man. The off-road scrambler is described as being white and the male rider was wearing a white helmet and light-coloured clothing. The rider is described as being in his late teens, around 5ft 5ins tall and of a slim build. The incident happened close to the footpath on Burgess Road, opposite the Sunrise Living accommodation. PC Jordan Williams said: “This off-road motorbike would have been driving through the common that evening so if you saw it please get in touch. “It still had the dog lead dragging from the vehicle, so it would have been quite distinctive at the time. “We would also like to speak to the man who stopped to help the victim as he may have information which could help with our investigations. “If you know who the rider is, or if you have seen a similar vehicle driving around please let us know.” If you have any information relating to this case, please call 101 quoting reference ‘44180154518’, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
