A 92-year-old man was plucked to safety from his burning chalet bungalow in Fleet after neighbours spotted the smoke and dialled 999 just before 6pm. Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus braved thick smoke to carry the pensioner out alive.
Fire Rips Through Roof as Dozens Battle Flames
The blaze quickly spread to the roof, prompting a huge response from around 35 firefighters. They battled relentlessly to bring the inferno under control and prevent further damage.
Man Treated for Smoke Inhalation, Cause Unknown
The elderly man was rushed to hospital after firefighters gave him emergency treatment at the scene. Thankfully, his injuries were not serious. While the property suffered severe damage, nobody else was hurt.
Investigators are treating the fire as accidental, but its exact cause remains under investigation.
