Police chiefs should hang their heads in shame. Shocking photos have emerged showing the grim accommodation provided for officers covering the massive security operation during Trump’s visit.

Cops can’t even charge their phones—there aren’t enough charging ports. It’s pure chaos. At 10pm, beds are still being passed around to where officers are supposed to sleep.

“We should be asleep,” said one exhausted officer forced to stay in the cramped male shift quarters. “Up at 3am, after just an hour’s shut-eye.”

Health and safety nightmare

After freezing cold showers and dressing in pitch darkness with no lights on, health and safety concerns are piling up. Many officers have vented their frustration on social media. They’re expected to sleep here for three nights, then pull 12-hour shifts. One said:

“Hasn’t changed since the miners’ strike—disgusting in this day and age. Are senior officers in the same accommodation? Didn’t think so.”

Officers left exhausted and undervalued

One recalled better conditions during the P&O dispute at Deal Barracks, where around 20 officers shared rooms with enough washrooms and with staggered sleep times. This current situation is a disgrace.

These frontline officers face long shifts on minimal rest. Here’s a glimpse at where some of our valued police will be spending the next few nights—courtesy of the Trump visit.

Police chiefs say this is acceptable. What do you think?
