Police descend on to Bluebell Meadows in Newport

Officers from Hampshire Constablary have descended on to Bluebell Meadows estate in Newport this evening. Armed response officers, a dog handler and two Police van and a response car have attended an address on an emergency response with blue lights and sirens sounding The emergency response was made following a number of calls after an argument broke out and spilled out to the street between a couple. A suit case was thrown out of the property and a man from the property was restrained by two concerned neighbours and a police officer before the arrival of further support. A number of young people have been ushered back into a property by officers. A strong smell of drug can be smelt the in the air as officers attempt to try and assatin what has happened and if any offences have been committed. Witnesses from a nearby property that back on to the Furrlongs said that it didn’t look like any exchanges of blows had taken place. One person has been arrested by police on suspicions of assault and a public order offence. More to follow
