Bank Scam alert

Police in Hampshire have had four reports recently of a bank card scam in the Romsey area. In one incident, a 76-year-old woman was called by a man who claimed to be her bank manager. He said that she was due to receive new bank cards, and that someone would call at her home to collect her old ones. During the course of the telephone conversation, she was persuaded to dislose her PIN numbers. The cards were then collected by another man and used to withdraw more than £1,000 in cash. Banks will never call customers in this way. Never disclose your PIN number. If you get a call like this, hang up and use a different phone line to report it.
