Bullet Casings and Deadly Weapons Found Near Playground
Police swarmed Harts Lane, Barking after multiple 999 calls reported gunshots. On arrival, officers found spent bullet casings from live ammunition scattered at the scene. Just yards from a children’s play area, police uncovered a large butcher’s knife and a machete, sparking fears of serious violence.
No Injuries Reported as Investigation Intensifies
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed, “Officers remain on scene in Harts Lane, Barking, following reports of shots fired. No reported injuries or victims have been found at this stage, and enquiries are ongoing. A large crime scene has been implemented owing to the discovery of spent cartridges.”
Section 60 Stop-and-Search Order Comes Into Force
In a bid to curb further trouble, police have imposed a Section 60 order across Abbey, Gascoigne, and Academy wards. This gives officers powers to stop and search without suspicion. The order runs until 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (Feb 11), as crews ramp up patrols in the area.
