BP CEO Bernard Looney Offers Free Fuel to UK Emergency Services Amid COVID-19
BP is stepping up for the nation. Bernard Looney, BP’s Chief Executive, has announced free fuel for emergency services at all UK BP retail sites. The move aims to support frontline heroes battling the COVID-19 crisis.
Supporting Those Who Protect Us
In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Looney explained the decision. “As COVID-19 spreads, our first instinct is to protect families, colleagues, and our company,” he said. “But we want to do more.”
“We’ve engaged with leaders across BP to find ways to assist communities where we live and work. Whether supporting government efforts, helping charities, or aiding supply chain workers—we’re extending a helping hand where we can.”
Backing the Vulnerable and Keeping Supplies Flowing
Starting March 19th, BP’s UK retail sites offer free fuel exclusively for emergency fleet vehicles. Looney also promised help for the elderly, one of the most vulnerable groups, with free delivery of food and convenience goods from BP stores.
He reassured Brits: “We will continue to keep fuel and energy supplies uninterrupted.”
More Details Coming Soon
BP clarified the free fuel offer applies only to fleet vehicles, not personal cars. Full details will be released shortly, with updates to follow.
Looney concluded, “We take our responsibility seriously and know we have a role to play. And we will.”
