Sexual Assault on Hackney Bus: Police Hunt Suspect
Detectives are urgently appealing for help after a woman was sexually assaulted on a bus in Hackney in the early hours. The shocking attack happened on the 243 bus travelling between Waterloo and Wood Green.
Witness Needed for Bus Assault on 31 May
Police were called at around 2.50am on Sunday, 31 May, following a report from the bus driver who spotted the victim’s distress. The victim had boarded the bus in Dalston and fell asleep after striking up a conversation with a man.
She woke to find the man sexually assaulting her. When she challenged him, he jumped up and fled the bus at Stoke Newington Road, N16.
Man With Irish Accent Sought by Police
The suspect is described as a white man aged 55-59 with short grey hair, a thick grey beard, and a stocky build. He stood around 5’6” tall and wore blue jeans and a red top. He spoke with an Irish accent.
Detective Sergeant Adam Knott said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim. We need to find this man and bring him to justice.”
