Shock as Police Snap Inappropriate Photos at Double Murder Scene
On Wednesday, 17 June, the Metropolitan Police Service’s Directorate of Professional Standards was hit with serious allegations. Officers allegedly took non-official and inappropriate photos at the crime scene in Fryent Country Park, Wembley, where Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman were murdered.
These disturbing images were shared on a closed WhatsApp group, sparking outrage.
Officers Arrested and Suspended Over Shocking Conduct
The Met reported the allegations to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which launched a probe immediately. On Monday, 22 June, two officers from the North East Command were arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. They have since been released under investigation and suspended from duty.
Investigation Widens: Six More Officers Under Scrutiny
The IOPC investigation has now wrapped up and handed its report back to the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards. The report is also on its way to the Crown Prosecution Service.
During the inquiry, six additional officers – also from the North East Command – were notified they are under investigation over the inappropriate photos.
Further possible misconduct, unrelated to the Wembley case, has also emerged, involving a small number of officers. However, no more officers have been suspended or placed on restricted duties so far.
Families Kept in the Loop as Probe Continues
The Met confirms full cooperation with the independent investigation. The families of Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman have been informed by the IOPC.
The scandal raises fresh questions over police professionalism and respect for victims.
