Chitterne Man Banned for Drink and Drug Driving Repeat Offences
Twice Caught Over Limit
Hector Timoney-Canning, 21, from Chitterne, has been slapped with a two-year driving ban after pleading guilty to drink and drug driving. The Salisbury Magistrates Court handed down the sentence on Friday, 30 October 2020.
Stopped at Scene of Fatal Crash
Back in the early hours of 24 November 2019, Timoney-Canning was nabbed by police in Shrewton for driving through a road closure set up at the site of a deadly traffic collision. A roadside drugs test showed he failed and subsequent blood tests revealed he was three times over the legal limit for Benzoylecgonine, a cocaine breakdown product. He also admitted to having cannabis on him that night.
Flunked Breath Test Months Later
While awaiting trial, Timoney-Canning was caught again in Amesbury on 26 July 2020. Officers became suspicious of his driving and stopped him. He blew three times over the alcohol limit on a roadside breath test — a shocking repeat offence.
Fines and Rehab Ordered
In addition to his driving ban, Timoney-Canning must complete a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement. He was fined £705 and slapped with £175 in court costs. This young driver’s dangerous decisions could have cost lives.
