Pub Brawl Terror: Man Jailed After Brutal Assault and CCTV Cover-Up
David Webster, from Dunchurch Road, Rugby, has been slammed with a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence after a violent attack in a local pub.
Pub Fight Ends in Facial Injuries
On 13 November last year, police rushed to a Rugby pub on Drury Lane following reports of a fight. Webster viciously assaulted another man, leaving him with nasty facial injuries. CCTV footage from the pub was seized, clearly showing Webster’s violent assault.
Cowardly Cover-Up Attempt
When taken into custody, Webster brazenly tried to destroy evidence. He made a phone call to a woman, urging her to “lose” the CCTV footage. His sneaky attempt to pervert the course of justice failed.
Webster had already pleaded guilty to wounding and trying to tamper with evidence. The court handed down a hefty 30-month jail term.
Police Speak Out on Justice Served
Detective Constable Matthew Rapkins of Warwickshire Police said: “Webster not only brutally assaulted another man but then tried to cover it up by destroying evidence. This conviction sends a clear message that violent crimes won’t be tolerated.
“Our thorough investigations ensure offenders like Webster face the full force of the law, especially when they attempt to pervert justice.”
