Off-Duty PCSO Snaps Up Suspect Hiding in Foliage

PCSO Luke Jones was off-duty when his sharp eyes caught a suspicious man crouching behind bushes on Vicarage Lane one evening.

Quick Thinking Leads to Arrest

Recognising the man as wanted for assault, Jones immediately called a colleague. Police swooped in and arrested the 33-year-old, who has no fixed address.

Suspect Linked to Assault in Ashford

The arrested man is accused of attacking another man on Queen Street, Ashford, back on 31 May, leaving the victim with arm injuries.

Inspector Praises PCSO’s Swift Action

“The role of a PCSO is diverse, and they’re trained to handle all kinds of situations,” said Inspector Simon Johnson of Ashford Community Safety Unit.

“Although PCSO Jones wasn’t on duty, he quickly spotted the suspect and reported it. This led to officers catching a man wanted for assault — a commendable effort.”
