Emergency services were scrambled to Samphire Hoe after a panicked public report claimed a body had been spotted in the water near the café at around 8am on Saturday.

A woman out walking her dog thought she saw a pair of feet and a head about 30 metres offshore. She raised the alarm after being comforted by nearby staff, triggering boats, ambulances, coastguard teams, and police to rush to the scene.
All Clear – It Was Just Lobster Pots
After a thorough search by Dover RNLI lifeboats, Coastguard Search and Rescue squads from Dover and Folkestone, South East Coast Ambulance, and Kent Police, the feared body was nowhere to be found.
“The report was investigated and turned out to be lobster pots floating in the sea,” confirmed authorities.
Emergency teams have since stood down, leaving the public reassured that it was a false alarm.
