After a thorough search by Dover RNLI lifeboats, Coastguard Search and Rescue squads from Dover and Folkestone, South East Coast Ambulance, and Kent Police, the feared body was nowhere to be found.

“The report was investigated and turned out to be lobster pots floating in the sea,” confirmed authorities.

Emergency teams have since stood down, leaving the public reassured that it was a false alarm.
