Dawn Raids Snare Five Over Fat Cat Bar Brawl

Violent Disorder Shakes Nottingham Ahead of Big Match

Nottinghamshire Police launched a series of early morning raids in Leicestershire last month, arresting four men linked to violent disorder outside the Fat Cat bar, Chapel Bar, Nottingham. The uproar erupted shortly after 1.45pm on 6 February 2022, just hours before the FA Cup fourth round clash between Nottingham Forest and Leicester City at the City Ground.

Reports came in of Leicester City fans hurling chairs and a table at the bar’s windows, smashing glass and leaving locals terrified for their safety. Police rushed to the scene as chaos unfolded in the usually peaceful street.

Police Crack Down After Hours of CCTV Analysis

Following a painstaking investigation involving extensive CCTV and social media scrutiny, Nottinghamshire Police tracked down suspects in Leicestershire. Warrants executed at multiple addresses led to four arrests, with a fifth man held on 14 March 2022.

  • Tyrone Smith, 37, Central Road, Leicester
  • Craig Jones, 23, Arden Avenue, Leicester
  • Przemyslaw Danik, 41, Rutland Street, Leicester
  • Neil Munden, 53, Winforde Crescent, Leicester
  • Craig Flint, 40, Silver Street, Whitwick, Leicestershire

All five men have been charged with violent disorder. Munden is bailed until 7 April at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court, while the others await a Crown Court appearance on 4 April.

Police Issue Warning to Troublemakers

“While the majority of people at the match were genuine fans, a small few caused harm. This will not be tolerated,” said Detective Sergeant Jon Kerry of Nottinghamshire Police.

“Charged suspects are just the beginning. We continue to sift through evidence to catch anyone involved in this appalling violence. I urge anyone involved to do the right thing and hand themselves in.”
