Teen Dies After Bray Lake Tragedy

At 11.45am, police were alerted to a 16-year-old boy in critical condition in Bray Lake, Maidenhead, after a friend raised the alarm.

Massive Rescue Effort Launched

Teams from Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue, and the National Police Air Service joined forces in a rapid, large-scale search of the lake.

Boy Found Dead at Scene

Tragically, the boy’s body was recovered shortly after 1.30pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This is an absolute tragedy in which a young boy has died after getting into difficulty in the water of Bray Lake,” said Superintendent Michael Greenwood, Windsor & Maidenhead LPA Commander.

“The boy’s next of kin have been notified and are being offered support during this extremely difficult and traumatic time.”

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends. We ask that their privacy is respected.”
