No Chance of an Inbetweeners Reunion, Says James Buckley
James Buckley, the man behind iconic character Jay Cartwright in the cult hit The Inbetweeners, has slammed any hopes of a reunion. In a recent chat on the Big Fish podcast with Made In Chelsea’s Spencer Mathews, Buckley made it clear: he’s done revisiting Jay – and age is the deal-breaker.
“Too Old and Haggard” for Jay
Despite fans begging for the gang to get back together, Buckley shut down reunion rumours cold. “Not even all the money in the world” would lure him back, he joked. At 35, he feels he’s too old and “haggard” to pull off the youthful, sex-obsessed Jay, especially compared to his former co-stars.
Fond Memories but Fresh Projects Ahead
He did, however, gush about working with Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, and Blake Harrison. Buckley treasures the unique experience and the laughs The Inbetweeners brought fans and cast alike. But for now, he’s set on shaking things up and exploring new acting roles – leaving Jay in the past where he belongs.
The Legacy of The Inbetweeners
- Original series aired from 2008 to 2010
- Two hit movies followed the TV success
- Jay Cartwright became a comedy cult figure for outrageous lies and hilarious antics
Though fans may be disappointed, the classic series and films still deliver plenty of laughs. The Inbetweeners remains a beloved cornerstone of British comedy, proving some legends are best left untouched.
