Three More Jailed Over Bristol Riot Mayhem

Three men have been locked up today for their roles in the violent Bristol riot outside Bridewell Police Station on March 21, 2021. Gopal Clarke, Henry Olohan, and Arthur Lazarus were sentenced at Bristol Crown Court after pleading guilty to offences during the chaos.

Clarke’s Violent Rampage Caught on Camera

Gopal Clarke, 25, from Kingswood, was slammed with 18 months behind bars. Footage shows him aggressively kicking officers and hurling objects at them from close range. He also stole a police baton with help from a bystander and used a police shield to ram and bash officers on the head.

Olohan and Lazarus Also Jailed for Riot Crimes

  • Henry Olohan, 24, of Montpelier, copped eight months for affray and criminal damage.
  • Arthur Lazarus, 23, got 20 months after admitting violent disorder.

“You were abusive to police and attacked officers with a shield,” said His Honour Judge James Patrick during sentencing. “You pushed the line and threw liquid at police trying to control the situation.”

Riot Sentences Top 85 Years

A total of 26 people have now been jailed for the Bristol riot, racking up a combined 85 years and one month behind bars.

Detective Superintendent James Riccio said: “The strong evidence may have pushed these men to plead guilty, but I hope they realise their actions went too far. This was a night of shameless and destructive violence, and we welcome these sentences for these appalling crimes.”
