Brutal Street Attack in Mount Pleasant Road
Man in His 20s Assaulted in Broad Daylight
On the evening of Saturday, 5 February 2022, a man in his twenties was walking along Mount Pleasant Road when disaster struck. At about 8:50pm, two men suddenly charged at him, punching him to the ground before continuing their savage attack.
Victim Hospitalised with Facial Injuries
The victim was left with serious facial injuries and bruising and had to be rushed to hospital for urgent treatment. The attack shocked onlookers, who intervened and forced the attackers to flee the scene.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
“We understand the suspects fled after members of the public stepped in,” said investigating officer PC Lily Mackay. “We’re appealing for anyone who saw what happened but hasn’t spoken to police yet to get in touch.”
Two 22-year-old men were arrested two days later, on Monday 7 February, on suspicion of assault. They have since been released on bail and are due to return to the station on 6 March.
