Two Paedophiles Guilty of Abuse at Ayrshire Care School

Kerelaw Residential School Scandal

Matthew George, 73, and John Muldoon, 69, were found guilty at Glasgow’s High Court today of serious sexual and physical abuse. The victims were young residents at Kerelaw Residential School in Stevenston, Ayrshire.

The horrific crimes took place between 1975 and 2004, while both men were employed at the school.

Long-Running Police Probe Uncovers More Abuse

George and Muldoon had already been jailed following a massive investigation by Strathclyde Police between 2004 and 2006. That probe exposed physical and sexual abuse by staff at the school.

New reports sparked a dedicated police team to re-examine allegations and dig deeper into decades of abuse at the care home.

Police Urge Other Victims to Come Forward

Senior Investigating Officer DI Ross Black said: “Police Scotland would like to thank everyone who came forward during this investigation. Their bravery helped secure today’s verdict.”

“We want people to know that no matter how long ago the abuse happened, justice can still be served.”

“We remain committed to bringing abusers to justice and urge anyone affected at Kerelaw to contact us.”
