Harlington Shooting: Man Killed, Body Dumped Roadside
A shocking shooting unfolded in Harlington in the early hours of Sunday, 31 October 2021. Mohamed Muhyidin, 28, was fatally shot while sitting in the front passenger seat of a car outside a flat on High Street.
Gunfire and Cover-Up
After the shooting, the killer drove Mohamed’s body to Sipson Lane and dumped it by the roadside. It was found by a passing taxi driver. The drama started the night before at a flat used for drug dealing, where Mohamed was with two others, Chiragh Chiragh and Mohammed Shakeel, plus a 17-year-old boy.
At around 4:45 am, Chiragh left the flat carrying a submachine gun. He joined Mohamed in the car. When Chiragh got out, the gun fired, hitting Mohamed. The silencer fell off and the weapon discharged multiple times more in Chiragh’s hands.
Mobile Phones and CCTV Seal the Case
Police pieced together the crime through mobile phone records and CCTV footage, showing all involved at the scene before and after the shooting. All were charged.
- Chiragh Chiragh, 39, was found guilty of manslaughter and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He had already admitted to multiple weapons offences and perverting the course of justice. In February, he was sentenced to 25 years, with 20 behind bars and an extended five years on licence.
- Mohammed Shakeel, 29, was convicted of perverting the course of justice and had admitted possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear. He got five years and four months in prison.
- The 17-year-old boy, who pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice, received a two-year youth rehabilitation order.
Detective Slams ‘Tragic’ Crime
Detective Inspector Lucy Carberry from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “Chiragh may not have intended to harm Mohamed Muhiyidin, but it is clear that he, and his associates, were intent on harming someone that day.
“Chiragh was armed with a lethal weapon and Shakeel with an imitation firearm before Mohamed’s death, which was captured on CCTV.
“After the shooting, they conspired to cover up what happened to Mohamed. All involved played a part in this tragic story and have rightly faced the consequences.”
