Wootton Councillor Found Guilty of Historic Child Sex Offences
Daryll Pitcher, 46, from Norman Way, Wootton, now faces prison after being found guilty of historic child sex offences at Isle of Wight Crown Court today.
Crimes Date Back Over 30 Years
The disturbing offences took place between 1990 and 1992, when Pitcher himself was a child. The jury spent six days hearing evidence before delivering their verdict.
Victim’s Emotional Testimony
The victim told the court how Pitcher penetrated her twice, stealing her virginity. She explained she didn’t understand what was happening at the time and only realised the abuse was wrong after school sex education classes.
“The victim claimed she blamed herself for years, but therapy helped her see it wasn’t her fault,” court sources revealed.
Swift Verdict After Intense Deliberation
Recorder Richard Onslow summed up the case and sent the jury out early morning. The verdict came back in just five hours.
Pitcher has always denied the charges. Sentencing is scheduled for April 12th at Isle of Wight Crown Court.
