Dan Takes the Wheel on National Road Safety
Dan is stepping up as the national lead for road safety from March 2023, while still holding his Chief Fire Officer role since October 2022 and leading the NFCC’s road rescue team. He also serves as Vice-Chair of the United Kingdom Rescue Organisation.
Passionate About Road Safety
Dan said of his new role: “I’m honoured to lead the national response to road safety and road rescue. This is something I’m extremely passionate about. Many fire services, including Surrey, attend more road traffic collisions than house fires. It’s vital our teams and the industry are educated, informed, and well equipped.”
Surrey Council and NFCC Praise Dan
Tim Oliver, leader of Surrey County Council, Fire Authority for Surrey Fire & Rescue Service, said: “Huge congratulations to Dan. His efforts to improve road safety and rescue have been recognised nationally. I’m proud to have him represent Surrey on this important stage.”
Neil Odin, Chair of NFCC’s Prevention Committee, added: “Dan brings a wealth of experience as the NFCC’s road rescue lead and Chief Fire Officer. His work with the UK Rescue Organisation adds depth to this role. I’m confident he’ll bring fresh ideas and build on Tony Crook’s excellent legacy.”
