Eight Jailed After Massive Weston-super-Mare Drugs Bust

Eight men have been locked up for a combined 36 years and 9 months after a major crackdown on drug dealing in Weston-super-Mare. The tough sentences were handed down at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday.

Operation Uncovers Class A Drug Network

The drugs swoop kicked off on March 30, 2021, when police raided a property on Jubilee Road. Four suspects were caught red-handed. Officers found Class A drugs, cash, drug gear, and a burner phone linked to an active drug supply ring.

A full-scale investigation uncovered a widespread Class A drug supply operation running across Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset.

Massive Haul Seized During Raids

  • Quantities of heroin and crack cocaine
  • Knives and mobile phones
  • Nearly £5,000 in cash
  • Drugs with an estimated street value of £7,000

Seven of the men admitted to dealing heroin and crack cocaine. Here’s how they were sentenced:

  • Jordan Moseley, 33, Shrubbery Walk West – 7½ years
  • Kyle Cox, 25, Appledore – 4 years
  • Aaron Staples, 26, Birchwood Avenue – 7 years 2 months (also guilty of drug possession in prison)
  • Liam Simms, 21, No fixed address – 6 years 4 months
  • Connor Kennedy, 20, No fixed address – 3½ years (young offenders’ institute)
  • Truman 1, 20, Wilson Gardens – 2 years 11 months (young offenders’ institute)
  • Matthew Coombes, 21, Appledore – 3 years 10 months

An eighth man, Mohammed Shazad Salim, 27, of Ashcombe Road, pleaded guilty to involvement in an organised crime group. He escaped jail but was handed an 18-month suspended sentence and ordered to complete 160 hours of unpaid work.

Police Warn Against County Lines Crime

“County Lines continues to exploit vulnerable people and damage communities,” said PC Howard Brown, the lead officer.

“Our dedicated team is working round the clock to stamp out this scourge. We urge the public to report any suspicious activity. Together, we can clean up our streets.”
