Croydon Mourns Teen Girl Stabbed on Way to School
The Croydon community is preparing to say a tearful goodbye to 15-year-old Elianne Andam. The schoolgirl was fatally stabbed on September 27, sparking shock and grief across the town.
Funeral and Procession to Honour Elianne
Elianne’s funeral takes place on Saturday, November 11, at the New Life Christian Centre, Cairo New Road, from 10:30am to 1:30pm. Loved ones describe her as a “beautiful daughter and beloved sister” with a “bright future ahead.”
A moving public procession starts just after 9:30am on Derby Road. It follows the route Elianne took to school, including Wellesley Road—the very spot where the tragedy occurred. Key roads along the path will be closed to traffic.
Emotional Tributes and Community Support
The procession pauses briefly at Old Palace School, giving the school community a chance to pay respects. Tributes will be shared by Elianne’s cousins, grandmother, aunts, and uncles during the service, alongside bible readings, hymns, and a special poem.
Elianne’s family expressed their heartbreak and gratitude for the outpouring of support but have asked for privacy in this painful time. The burial will be private, but a live stream of the funeral service will be available for those unable to attend.
Croydon Remembers a Life Cut Tragically Short
Since the attack, residents have left heartfelt tributes at the scene, showing how deeply Elianne’s death has affected the community. As Croydon comes together in mourning, the loss of this young life serves as a stark reminder of the impact of knife crime.
