A 22-year-old man from Didcot in Oxfordshire has been apprehended on suspicion of criminal damage following an incident that occurred during a car meet on the Hawksworth Industrial Estate in Swindon on September 30.
According to reports, the man allegedly sprayed an unknown substance at police officers during the incident, resulting in their uniforms becoming tainted with a foul odour, which necessitated their disposal.
Superintendent Guy Elkins, speaking on behalf of the Wiltshire Police, stated, “We will not hesitate to deal robustly with anyone suspected of such a crime directed at police officers in the course of their duty. Such behaviour is entirely unacceptable, and we will ensure that such offenders are identified and face the full force of the law. I would like to thank members of the public for their support in identifying the suspect in this case.
The suspect is currently in police custody, and investigations into the incident are ongoing. The incident serves as a reminder of the commitment of law enforcement agencies to protect officers in the line of duty and ensure that those who engage in criminal activities face the consequences of their actions.
