Scatchard, known to be a prolific user of dating apps with a history of sexual offences, vanished after officers returned to his home address for questioning and discovered his absence on October 16. Authorities are concerned that he may have formed new relationships, given his modus operandi.
Described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, of average build, with short grey hair and a Scottish accent, Scatchard has a history of using the alias Richard Dunlop. Authorities acknowledge that his appearance may have changed since his last confirmed sighting due to the passage of time.
The most recent confirmed sighting of Scatchard was at 10:00am on Blenheim Road, Minehead, on October 16. Despite receiving 55 reported sightings, many in the Minehead area, his whereabouts remain unconfirmed. Extensive searches and high-visibility patrols are currently underway in Minehead and the surrounding regions, with collaborative efforts from police forces across the country.
Detective Chief Inspector Jess Aston issued a direct plea to Scatchard, saying, “Richard, if you see this, it is not too late to do the right thing and hand yourself in.”
