Attempted Robbery at Elmstead Woods Station Sparks Police Hunt
British Transport Police have launched a full investigation after two masked men tried to snatch a pricey Canada Goose jacket at Elmstead Woods Station, Chislehurst, Kent – all in broad daylight on Thursday.
Bold Robbery Attempt in Daylight
Commuters were left shaken as the suspects targeted a man wearing the popular high-end winter jacket. Eyewitnesses say the pair aggressively tried to steal the outerwear, sparking a physical fight when the victim fought back.
Public Steps In, Suspects Flee Scene
Good Samaritans rushed to help the victim, forcing the thieves to make a quick getaway before police arrived. The man suffered minor injuries but didn’t need hospital treatment. He later spoke to British Transport Police to assist their enquiries.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Release Suspects on Bail
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “We take incidents like this very seriously. Our priority is the safety of passengers and the public on the railways. We urge anyone who saw what happened or has information to come forward.”
Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage from Elmstead Woods Station and have asked for any other photos or videos from the public to help identify the two suspects.
Two 16-year-old boys were arrested but have since been bailed. Police are especially keen to speak to a man who assisted the victim and a woman who witnessed the event.
