Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Teenager Killed in A419 Collision

The grieving family of Jamie Donnelly, a 17-year-old tragically killed in a collision on the A419, has paid a moving tribute to their beloved son. In their heartfelt tribute, they described Jamie as a “cheeky chappy” with an infectious laugh who had a unique talent for lighting up any room he entered.

The devastating incident occurred on Tuesday evening, January 2, when the Vauxhall Astra Jamie was travelling in collided with the roundabout at junction 15 for the M4. His untimely passing has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire community.

The family’s poignant tribute to Jamie paints a vivid picture of a young man full of life and enthusiasm. Jamie was not only a talented football player but an all-around sports enthusiast. His passion extended to his Xbox, where he showcased his competitive spirit.

His infectious laughter and an unparalleled sense of humour endeared him to everyone he met, leaving them in fits of laughter. According to his family, Jamie was not only kind and sweet but also immensely popular. He had an extraordinary ability to make lasting impressions on all who crossed his path.

Jamie’s adventurous spirit shone through in his love for family holidays, kayaking, caving, go-karting, and the occasional visit to water parks. His family dog, Buddy, who Jamie showered with attention and playfulness, will deeply miss their special bond.

The Donnelly family also addressed the public GoFundMe page that was set up in the wake of Jamie’s passing. While appreciating the generosity of their friends and well-wishers, they clarified that the page was not created by their family or close friends. They expressed their desire to see the funds used for a positive cause in the future and will provide further information on this matter.

In their appeal, the family requested that any speculation surrounding the collision and the ongoing investigation cease immediately. They highlighted the negative impact of unwanted comments on social media during their time of grief.

As Jamie’s friends look for ways to pay their respects, the family welcomes their attendance at the funeral once the date is confirmed. However, they plan to hold a small, intimate private wake for family and very close friends and kindly request that attendance be limited to those invited by parents.

The Donnelly family expressed their gratitude for the vigil set up by Jamie’s friends on the bench at St Andrews Ridge, where flowers, cards, and balloons have been placed in his memory. They asked for time and space to grieve as a family during this incredibly challenging period.

Formal identification of Jamie has not yet been concluded, adding to the sorrow and uncertainty surrounding this tragic loss.
