Police Hunt New Cross Sexual Assault Suspect – E-FIT Released
Detectives are urgently hunting a man wanted over a sexual assault near New Cross Gate. The attack took place in the early hours of December 16, 2023, at around 2:50am, when a woman in her 30s was walking home from New Cross Station.
Man Followed Woman Before Attack
According to police, the suspect emerged from behind a skip on Jerningham Road, then stalked the woman as she walked. At the junction with St Asaph Road, he carried out the sexual assault.
Investigators Urge Public to Help ID Suspect
Detective Constable Marissa Harrison, leading the probe, slammed the sinister attack and called on anyone with information to come forward immediately. She said:
“We take every incident of sexual assault extremely seriously and are committed to catching predatory offenders. Everyone should be able to walk home safely without fear. It’s vital we find this man.”
DC Harrison added she wants to hear from anyone who saw suspicious behaviour at the time or recognises the man in the E-FIT.
