Numerous homes in villages surrounding Canterbury and areas in Thanet have been plunged into water supply woes due to technical issues at Wingham Water Supply Works.
Residents in Adisham, Ash, Aylesham, Bekesbourne, Bridge, Wingham, Ramsgate, and Monkton have reported experiencing a loss of water supply or low water pressure, attributing the problem to ongoing technical difficulties at the water supply facility.
In response to the crisis, Southern Water has swiftly mobilised to address the situation by opening two bottled water stations. One station is located at New Dover Road Park and Ride in Canterbury, while the other is situated at Aylesham Leisure Centre. These stations will provide residents with access to bottled water until 10 p.m. tonight to alleviate the inconvenience caused by the water supply disruption.
Additionally, Southern Water has initiated a bottled water delivery service through its priority services register to assist vulnerable individuals and households affected by the outage. The company has apologized for the inconvenience caused by the technical issues, expressing regret for the disruption in the water supply and low water pressure experienced by customers.
A statement posted on Southern Water’s website reads: “Our teams are continuing to work to resolve issues at Wingham Water Supply Works. We’re sorry customers may be experiencing a loss of supply or low pressure due to technical issues at our supply works.”
The technical issues have been attributed to complications in the water treatment process and turbidity at the Wingham Water Supply Works, making it more challenging to treat and distribute water effectively.
Residents who were expected to receive bottled water deliveries but have not yet done so are urged to contact Southern Water at 0330 303 0368 for assistance.
