Woman attacked and robbed in Wavertree in the early hours

Violent robbery on Wellington Road

Merseyside Police are hunting a thug who attacked a woman just after midnight on Saturday, March 16. The victim was walking along Wellington Road in Wavertree at around 12:45am when the suspect threw her to the ground. He then snatched her handbag and fled the scene.

Suspect described as 30-year-old man in dark clothes

Detective Inspector Chris Hawitt called the assault “violent and distressing.” The woman suffered bruises to her arms and was terrified after the violent robbery.

The suspect is said to be about 5ft 5in tall, with dark hair. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and dark trousers.

Police seek help from public with doorbell footage

Officers are reviewing doorbell camera footage from nearby Picton Road in a bid to identify the attacker. They urge anyone with information to come forward immediately.
