Officers were called at 9.30pm on Friday, 5 April to a residential address in Silver Birch Avenue E4.
The male victim was outside the address with some friends when a blue Nissan sped towards them and parked up.
The group ran inside the address and were followed by a group of males wearing gloves, facemasks and hoods.
A number of them had knives, while another appeared to have a small black handgun, which was aimed at the victims.
One of the suspect groups checked the rooms in the address for valuables before fleeing. Nothing is believed to have been taken.
The victim described the group as being made up of eight to ten people.
