Police are hunting for armed gunmen after a shooting in Oldham that was captured on Snapchat. Officers were called to Prince Edward Avenue in the early hours of today after reports of a firearms discharge. Officers swiftly arrived at the scene and confirmed that a shooting had taken place.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in what authorities describe as a “targeted attack.” The incident does not pose a risk to the wider community.

Forensic officers are currently working within the cordon on Prince Edward Avenue. The window of one house appears to have been shattered, with several glass door panes also damaged. A section of the street remains taped off as investigations continue.

The shocking incident was captured on Snapchat, where a man is seen holding a gun and firing at least two shots outside a house. The video has been widely shared on social media platforms.

Detective Inspector Clare Harrison, from Greater Manchester Police’s Oldham district, issued a statement:

“We are working diligently to determine the exact circumstances of last night’s events and establish a timeline. Our investigation is utilising all available resources, and we are committed to bringing those responsible to justice. “Any report of a firearms discharge is deeply concerning, and we understand that local residents may be worried. However, we want to reassure the public that this appears to be a targeted attack with no broader threat to safety. Additional officers will be present in the area to provide reassurance, and I encourage anyone with concerns to approach them. “Our efforts to combat gun crime across Greater Manchester have led to the recovery of 78 firearms in the past year. While the number of shootings has decreased, we remain vigilant and respond swiftly to incidents. “If you have any information related to this incident, please contact us via 101, quoting log number 122 of 07/05/24.
