Man Sentenced to 16 Years for Attempted Murder and Robbery in Slough

Following a thorough investigation by Thames Valley Police, Said Nassor, a 29-year-old man formerly of Sharney Avenue, Slough, has been sentenced to sixteen years in prison. Nassor was convicted of attempted murder and attempted robbery. The sentencing took place today at Reading Crown Court.

In addition to his custodial sentence, Nassor will be on license for five years upon release. He pleaded guilty to one count each of attempted murder, attempted robbery, and possession of a knife in a public place during earlier hearings at the same court.

The incidents occurred on separate occasions last year. On Saturday, March 25, around 8:30 a.m., Nassor approached an unknown man on Yew Tree Road and used a knife to cut across the man’s neck. The victim, in his fifties and from Slough, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, he survived and was later discharged.

On Monday, March 27, around 10:30 Nassor entered Barclay’s Bank in Slough and demanded £10,000 while brandishing a knife. Although he did not threaten anyone with the weapon, officers promptly responded to the scene, and Nassor was arrested.

Detective Inspector Stuart May, the senior investigating officer from the Major Crime Unit, expressed concern over the incidents. “It was extremely lucky that the victim of the stabbing survived his injuries,” said May. “The victim and Nassor had never met, and there was no prior altercation. Nassor randomly attacked the victim from behind.”

May emphasised that such stranger attacks are rare. The police launched an immediate investigation after the stabbing on Yew Tree Road, conducting significant inquiries to identify the offender. The incident at the bank led to Nassor’s detention, and further investigation linked the two offences. Nassor was charged and remanded in August for both attempted murder and attempted robbery.

“We extend our gratitude to the victims for their support throughout our investigation,” added May.
