Ricky Sparks Jailed for Raping Ex-Partner
Ricky Sparks has been locked up for four years and seven months after being convicted of raping his ex-partner. The attack happened at her home on December 28, 2021.
Guilty Plea U-Turn Rejected
Sparks, 43, from Buckhurst Crescent, Walcot, appeared at swindon/" title="Swindon" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Swindon Crown Court on Friday (05/07). He tried to backtrack on his earlier guilty plea, but the court dismissed his attempt to plead not guilty.
Charged in December 2022, Sparks initially admitted the rape in early 2023. Later, he claimed his lawyers pressured him into the guilty plea. However, a hearing in May 2024 slammed the door on his application to change the plea.
Sex Offender Register and Restraining Order
Alongside his prison sentence, Sparks will remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely. He also faces an indefinite restraining order and must pay a £190 surcharge.
