Super Typhoon Yagi has unleashed chaos after smashing into northern Vietnam following a brutal sweep across southern China. With wind speeds topping 230 km/h, the monstrous storm has torn up thousands of trees, swept boats out to sea, and killed at least three people across the region.

Vietnam’s Hai Phong and Quang Ninh Devastated

Yagi battered Vietnam’s Hai Phong and Quang Ninh provinces with winds reaching 149 km/h. Locals saw roofs ripped off buildings and trees uprooted. Tragedy struck in Hai Duong province, where a man was crushed to death by a fallen tree. Officials labelled Yagi the worst storm in decades.

The island of Co To took the hardest hit. Homes, schools, and offices lost their roofs, leaving hundreds exposed. Over 20,000 residents were hurriedly evacuated to safety before the storm hit.

Southern China Feels Yagi’s Fury First

Before Vietnam, Yagi tore through Hainan Island in southern China. Nearly half a million people were evacuated amid fierce winds and flooding. Two died and 92 were injured. Rescue operations continue as communities shelter in public buildings.

Authorities Rally for Relief Efforts

Officials across Vietnam and China are scrambling to assess the damage and provide urgent help. The scale of the disaster means a long road to recovery for the stricken regions.
