Police have initiated a murder investigation after a man in his 60s died following a suspected assault in Wallsend, North Tyneside.
At approximately 5am today, emergency services were called to a residence on Holly Avenue after receiving reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, they found a man with severe injuries consistent with an assault. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead shortly after.
Two men, aged 41 and 34, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody.
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially-trained officers. Authorities have requested that the family’s privacy be respected during this difficult time.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact Northumbria Police on 101 as enquiries into the incident continue.
