A 14-year-old Jewish schoolgirl was rushed to the Royal London Hospital after glass bottles were hurled at her by a male attacker in Stamford Hill, local security group Shomrim revealed.
Schoolgirl Targeted in Shocking Bottle Attack
The assault happened on the Woodberry Down Estate as a group of visibly Jewish girls walked from a bus stop to Beis Chinuch Girls’ School for a rehearsal. From a balcony, the attacker threw around a dozen glass bottles and plates at the schoolgirls, Shomrim reported.
One girl suffered serious head and facial injuries, including a large hematoma and cuts. She was treated at hospital and later discharged. The group was left “badly shaken and traumatised” by the terrifying ordeal.
Premeditated Hate Attack, Say Witnesses
Shomrim say the attack was planned. “Evidence suggests the perpetrator had prepared the bottles and plates in advance, deliberately targeting the girls due to their visibly Jewish appearance,” the group stated.
Shattered glass was found as far as the school’s front gate, showing the brutal force of the assault.
Police Hunt Suspect After CCTV Leads to Flat
The Metropolitan Police are investigating the incident as a potential antisemitic hate crime. CCTV footage led officers to the suspect’s flat, where a late-night arrest inquiry was carried out on Monday at 11 p.m. However, the suspect was not home and remains at large.
A police source confirmed: “We are investigating this incident as a potential hate crime and are working to trace and apprehend the suspect.”
Stamford Hill on Edge as Hate Crimes Rise
Stamford Hill, home to a large ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, has seen a worrying increase in targeted attacks. Earlier this year, a 16-year-old Jewish boy was chased and pelted with stones by three males.
Residents and community leaders are alarmed and demanding better protection against rising antisemitic violence.
Community Demands Justice and Better Security
Local leaders have condemned the attack and called for swift justice. Shomrim praised the quick response from Hatzalah emergency services for getting the injured girl to hospital and commended police efforts investigating the crime.
This shocking attack shines a light on the ongoing risks faced by Jewish communities across the UK and has sparked calls for urgent action to combat antisemitism and keep everyone safe.
More updates will follow as the investigation unfolds.
