Dispersal Order Issued in Harlow Amid Large Car Meet Concerns

A dispersal order is now in place in Harlow, Essex, in response to a large car meet event. The order, aimed at preventing reckless driving and anti-social behavior, is effective from 12:01 AM to 6:00 AM on Saturday, 7 December.

Purpose of the Order

The dispersal order is part of a proactive policing strategy to protect the local community from potentially dangerous driving and disruptive behavior often associated with unlicensed car meet events.

Key areas covered by the order include:

Police Patrols

Officers will be patrolling the designated areas during the dispersal period to ensure compliance and to target individuals engaging in anti-social use of roads.

Police Statement

A spokesperson for Essex Police said:

“Dispersal orders are used in a considered and proportionate way to balance public safety with the need for residents to go about their daily lives without disruption.

“We will not tolerate dangerous driving or any form of anti-social behavior in Harlow or Essex more broadly. Road traffic legislation will be enforced where necessary.”

Community Impact

Dispersal orders allow police to ask individuals causing or likely to cause anti-social behavior to leave the area. Non-compliance can result in arrest or fines.

Residents are encouraged to report any reckless or dangerous activity during the order’s enforcement to Essex Police.
