Croydon Dog Attack: Defendant Ordered to Pay Over £65,000 in Compensation

A man has been ordered to pay a total of £65,410 in compensation following a shocking dog attack in Lloyd Park, Croydon, which left a male victim and several animals injured.

The incident occurred on July 21, 2023, when police were called to reports of a male being attacked by multiple dogs in the park. Officers arrived at the scene to find both the victim and a number of chickens had suffered serious injuries.

Following a thorough investigation by the Croydon Safer Neighbourhoods Team in collaboration with the Status Dogs Unit, several dogs were seized under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Court Ruling and Compensation

After the conclusion of legal proceedings, the defendant was handed a 10-year disqualification from keeping dogs and was ordered to pay compensation totaling £65,410. This amount includes:

  • £13,000 to the victims involved
  • £52,410 to cover kennel and veterinary costs for the seized dogs

A/Chief Inspector Ryan Holliday of Croydon Safer Neighbourhoods commended those who assisted with the investigation, stating:

“I would like to thank any member of the public who witnessed and came forward to assist the police.”
