Detectives Seek Witnesses After Man Shot in New Addington

Police are appealing for public assistance following a shooting in Croydon that left a 50-year-old man injured.

The incident occurred at 11:25 pm on Monday, 23 December 2024, when officers were called to reports of a man shot on Godric Crescent in New Addington.

Emergency services arrived at the scene, and the victim was transported to hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand. He has since been discharged, but continues to receive medical treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

Suspects and Investigation Update

Detectives are working to identify two suspects involved in the shooting.

Detective Inspector Martin Thomas from Specialist Crime said:

“The victim was very fortunate not to sustain even more serious injuries, and if he hadn’t reacted in the way that he did, this shooting may have been fatal.”

“We have carried out extensive enquiries and now need the public’s help. We know the suspects fled the scene in a car, heading north on King Henry’s Drive.”

Further investigations have established that the suspects are known to frequent an address on Portland Road, South Norwood, and may have been there two days before the attack.

Public Urged to Come Forward

Officers are urging anyone with information, particularly those who may have been in the area at the time or have dash cam footage, to come forward.

“We need to arrest these men whose recklessness is dangerous. If you have any information, please contact us immediately.”
