Man Shot in New Addington: Police Hunt Two Suspects
Detectives are on the hunt after a man was shot in Croydon, left injured but alive in a late-night attack.
Late Night Shooting on Godric Crescent
At 11:25 pm on Monday, 23 December 2024, police raced to reports of a shooting on Godric Crescent, New Addington. The victim, a 50-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to his hand.
Emergency services took him to hospital. He has since been discharged but still needs ongoing medical care due to the severity of his injuries.
Two Suspects on the Run
Detectives are scrambling to identify two suspects connected to the shooting. The men fled northbound on King Henry’s Drive in a car shortly after the attack.
“The victim was very fortunate not to sustain even more serious injuries,” said Detective Inspector Martin Thomas from Specialist Crime. “If he hadn’t reacted as he did, this shooting could have been fatal.”
“We’ve conducted extensive enquiries but need the public’s help now,” he added.
Further investigation revealed the suspects are known to frequent an address on Portland Road, South Norwood. They may have been there two days before the shooting.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward — especially those with dash cam footage or who were in the area that night.
“We need to arrest these men whose recklessness is dangerous. If you know anything, please contact us immediately.”
