Man Charged After Dramatic Drive-Through at Disused Army Base
A 54-year-old man faces multiple charges after crashing through barriers at the abandoned St Omer Barracks in Aldershot, Hampshire.
Knife Wielded, Guards Shouted At
Hampshire police were called around 4.30pm last Saturday when the man drove through security barriers at the site. He then jumped out of the vehicle, yelled at guards, and used a knife to slash the car’s exterior.
Explosive Threat Fears Spark Bomb Squad Response
Worrying remarks from the suspect prompted the call-out of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team. Thankfully, specialists found no explosives and no one was hurt.
Charges and Court Date
- Jason Pellatt, 54, of no fixed address, was charged with possession of a knife in public, dangerous driving, assaulting an emergency worker, and affray.
- Police are investigating, but confirm the incident is not linked to terrorism.
- Pellatt is set to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
