Man Charged After Attempting to Drive Into Disused Army Barracks in Aldershot

A man has been charged with multiple offences following a dramatic incident at a disused Army barracks in Aldershot, Hampshire.

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that officers were called at around 4.30pm on Saturday after receiving reports that a man had driven through the barriers at St Omer Barracks. The man reportedly exited the vehicle, shouted at guards, and used a knife to damage the outside of the car.

Due to concerning comments made at the scene, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called as a precaution. However, police later confirmed there was no explosive threat and no injuries were reported.

On Sunday, Jason Pellatt, 54, of no fixed abode, was charged with possession of a knife in a public place, dangerous driving, assault of an emergency worker, and affray.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the full circumstances of the incident, but confirmed it is not being treated as terrorism-related.

Pellatt is due to appear in custody at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
